Irish Street Food You Can Make At Home

Bring Irish Street Food to Your Table with Tommy Moloney’s

On the busy high streets of Dublin, along the alleys of Belfast, or on the waterfront roads of Galway, there’s always something in the air. Maybe it’s the natural music in the lilt of Irish voices. It could be because everyone on the Emerald Isle is constantly in a good mood (Ireland is the fifteenth happiest country in the world, dontcha know). Or maybe it’s the sound of bacon crackling and the smell of sausages from Irish street vendors.

Ireland’s street food scene is a flavorful expression of traditional influences, namely comfort and community. That’s why one of the most popular dishes in the slow-cooked Dublin Coddle, which simmers in family kitchens for hours. Sometimes you don’t have all day to wait and that’s where street food comes in handy. (Get it? Handy. Because you eat street food with your hands?) Whether it's a warm roll stuffed with sizzling sausage to kickstart your day or a steaming tray of drisheen at a local market, Irish street food tells an oral story. (Get it? Because you eat food? Ah, we'll leave the puns alone from here on out).

At Tommy Moloney’s, we’re proud to bring those authentic flavors into your home with premium Irish meats crafted from time-honored recipes.

The Ultimate Breakfast Roll: A True Irish Classic

There’s no Irish street food quite like the breakfast roll. It’s the go-to grab-and-go meal for early risers, late-night partiers, and everyone in between. Remember: when it comes to street good, measure with your heart!

What You’ll Need:

Tommy Moloney’s Back Bacon Rashers

Tommy Moloney’s Irish White Pudding

Tommy Moloney’s Breakfast Sausages

Eggs

Mushrooms

Hash Browns

Fresh Roll or Baguette

How To Make It:

Pan-fry the sausages, rashers, and pudding until golden. Add a fried egg, some mushrooms, and crispy hash browns, then load it all into a warm, buttered roll. Top it off with some ketchup or brown sauce if desired. It’s messy, meaty, and utterly satisfying.

Corned Beef Sliders with Pickles and Creamy Mustard Sauce

Street food meets gastro pub in this elevated but easy dish. You can find our favorite way to prepare Corned Beef here!

What You Need:

Tommy Moloney’s Irish Corned Beef

Slider Buns

Pickled Red Onions or Gherkins

Creamy Mustard Sauce (1 part mayonnaise, 1 part Dijon mustard, a Dash of Vinegar)

How To Make It:

Slice warm corned beef and pile it high on toasted slider buns. Add pickles and a drizzle of sauce. Serve as a game day snack, a food truck favorite at home, or a no-fuss dinner.

Reuben Boxty

“Boxty” is the Irish name for what is essentially a potato pancake. For this street food twist, we suggest a slightly larger than usual boxty and using it as a wrap for leftover corned beef.

What You Need:

Boiled Potatoes, grated

Mashed Potatoes

1 cup Flour

1 cup Milk

Butter (lots of it)

Salt and Pepper to taste

How To Make It:

For the boxty, mix all the ingredients to form a thick, pancake-like batter. Heat the butter in a pan over medium heat, and add the batter. Cook until golden (about four minutes per side). Top the boxty with corned beef slices (or your favorite Irish meats), and add sauerkraut and cheese, if ya like. Broil everything for a crispy finish!
